Měto Pernak, also known as Martin Pernack, was a notable Sorbian writer, publicist, translator from French and Russian, and a prominent cultural figure. Born on March 17, 1938, in Nowa Niwa, he served as the chairman of the Sorbian Association in Lower Lusatia from 1993 to 2006. Throughout his life, Pernak faced surveillance by the Stasi due to his views in the GDR. He received several accolades, including the Myto Ćišinski award in 2009 for his cultural contributions. Pernak passed away on December 8, 2019, in Barlin.
