Mette Elisabeth Nergård, born in 1951, is a Norwegian author and philologist. She serves as an associate professor at the Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies at Oslomet. Nergård has published a variety of fiction and nonfiction works, as well as articles and essays focusing on rhetoric, language didactics, and literature. She debuted in 1986 with her short story collection 'Frosne roser'. In 1995, she converted to Catholicism and published a book about it in 2011. Her autobiography, 'Barndom under nordlyset', recounts her childhood experiences and was published in 2020.
