Michael Anthony Figures was an American lawyer and politician, born on October 13, 1947. He represented the Alabama Senate's 33rd district from 1978 until his death in 1996. In 1995, he was elected president pro tempore of the Senate. Figures is notably recognized for winning a significant case against the Ku Klux Klan, which resulted in a judgment that bankrupted the United Klans of America due to the wrongful death civil suit concerning the lynching of Michael Donald. His wife Vivian Davis Figures took over his Senate position after he passed.
