Michael E. Brown, born on June 5, 1965, is an American astronomer and a professor of planetary astronomy at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) since 2003. His research team has discovered numerous trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), including the dwarf planet Eris. This discovery sparked a debate about the definition of 'planet' as Eris was initially thought to be larger than Pluto. Brown is often referred to as the man who 'killed Pluto' due to his role in Pluto's reclassification as a dwarf planet. He authored 'How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming'.
