Michael Edwin Thornton (born March 23, 1949) is a retired member of the U.S. Navy SEALs and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Vietnam War. He earned this prestigious award for saving the life of his superior officer, Lieutenant Thomas R. Norris, who was also awarded the Medal of Honor for a separate incident. Thornton also participated in the Gulf War.
