Michael Edward Ash was a British mathematician and brewer, known for leading a team that invented a nitrogenated dispense system for Guinness stout, first released in 1959. This innovation evolved into Draught Guinness, the globally sold beer. As the manager of the Easy Serve project, he is recognized as the inventor of nitrogenated beer, also referred to as "nitro beer". He served as Managing Director of Crookes Laboratories from 1962 to 1972, during which time he secured a license for an early UK anti-depressant, Prothiaden.
