Michael John Rogers was an English ornithologist, born on 5 October 1932 in Sutton Coldfield, England. He was deeply involved in bird watching from a young age and became an esteemed member of the West Midland Bird Club. After his National Service, he joined the Metropolitan Police, retiring as a Detective Sergeant. Rogers was the bird recorder for the Sussex Ornithological Society and contributed to British Birds with rare bird reports. He founded the Association of County Recorders and Editors in 1993. He struggled with health issues and passed away from lung cancer on 10 October 2006.
