John Michael Kosterlitz is a Scottish-British physicist born in 1942 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He is the son of chemist Hans Kosterlitz. In 2016, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics alongside David Thouless and Duncan Haldane for their discoveries in condensed matter physics, contributing significantly to the field and advancing our understanding of various physical phenomena.
