Michael Arvaarluk Kusugak is a Canadian Inuk storyteller and children's author known for his contributions to Arctic and Inuit culture. Born on April 27, 1948, in Qatiktalik, he faced challenges during his education, including attending residential school. His love for storytelling evolved through his grandmother's tales, which he later adapted for children. Kusugak's first book, A Promise is a Promise, co-authored with Robert Munsch, was published in 1988. He has since authored several children's books, many illustrated by Vladyana Krykorka, and his works have been translated into multiple languages.
