Michael Schofield was the head coach of the United States Naval Academy water polo team from 1985 to 2013. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was the water polo team's captain. Schofield joined the Naval Academy staff in 1982, gaining head coach status in 1985. Under his leadership, the team won the CWPA Eastern Division championship six times and participated in the NCAA tournament eleven times. He retired from coaching in 2013 and received accolades including National Coach of the Year in 2004.
