Michael Sledge is an American writer known for his debut novel, The More I Owe You, which explores the relationship between poet Elizabeth Bishop and architect Lota de Macedo Soares. The novel garnered the Ferro-Grumley Award in 2011 and was a nominee for the Lambda Literary Award in the Lesbian Debut Fiction category. Sledge is originally from Texas and has previously written a memoir, Mother and Son, published in 1995, which deals with his relationship with his mother amid his coming out as gay.
