Michel Averlant (1931-2015) was a French writer, translator, and literary director known for rejuvenating the declining French detective novel collection, Le Masque. He published numerous crime and adventure novels featuring the character Ludovic Martel in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Averlant collaborated with Frédéric Ditis to revamp Le Masque by introducing major literary figures and reissuing classics. He also translated works for radio and theater while significantly contributing to modern French detective literature by supporting both established and emerging authors.
