Michael Kenneth Paynter, born 8 December 1948 in Cornwall, is a retired civil servant, trade union activist, and poet. He is a member of Gorsedh Kernow, initiated as a bard in 2003, and served as Deputy Grand Bard and Grand Bard until 2012. Paynter contributed significantly to the Cornish Language Board and won a poetry competition in 2003. He has published poetry collections in Cornish and English, drawing from various influences. He was President of the St Ives Old Cornwall Society from 2014 to 2017.
