She is best known for her work on popular television series such as '3年B組金八先生' (Mr. Kinpachi), 'マー姉ちゃん' (My Sister Mar), '本日も晴天なり' (It's Another Sunny Day), '徳川家康' (Tokugawa Ieyasu), and '翔ぶが如く' (Like A Bird). Her real name was Mieko Sasahira. Osanai was also the mother of actor Go Rishuu, and she left a significant mark on Japanese television through her storytelling.
