Miguel Ángel Pérez Álvarez, known as 'Chupi', was a prominent Spanish volleyball player born on September 28, 1952, in Madrid. He started playing volleyball at Mirasierra school before joining Real Madrid at age 15. He debuted with the first team at 17, eventually becoming captain until the team's dissolution in 1983. As a player, he won 7 Superligas and 9 Copas del Rey, participated in the European Championship, and earned a bronze medal in the 1976 Spring Cup. He transitioned to coaching afterward and passed away on June 10, 2006, in a traffic accident.
