José Miguel Arroyave Ruiz, known as 'Arcángel' or 'the Chemist', was a prominent paramilitary leader in Colombia, born on August 10, 1954, and deceased on September 19, 2004. He commanded the Centauri bloc of the AUC, a major private militia with around 5,000 members. Renowned for his fierce opposition to guerrilla groups, he played a significant role in territorial control. Arroyave was also part of negotiations for the demobilization of paramilitary groups and maintained close ties with the influential Castaño family.
