Miguel Angel Rivera Vargas, born on July 8, 1943, is a former Puerto Rican jockey who raced from the 1960s to the 1990s. He achieved significant victories, including the 1974 Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Rivera's best finish in the Kentucky Derby was sixth in 1977, and he also excelled in the Filly Triple Crown, winning an Acorn Stakes. Throughout his career, he won over 1,800 races and was inducted into the Puerto Rican Equestrian Hall of Fame in 1988, followed by the Puerto Rico Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
