Mike Schafer is the head men's ice hockey coach at Cornell University, where he has been since 1995. He played for Cornell, graduating in 1986 with a business management degree. After playing, he served as an assistant coach before coaching at Western Michigan. He returned to Cornell as head coach, restoring the team's success with multiple conference tournament championships. Schafer is recognized as the longest-tenured and winningest coach in Cornell's history. He announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
