He had a successful post-military career, holding leadership roles at KPMG and IBM. Stone was commissioned in 1976 and served in various locations during his 26-year army career. He transitioned to business in 2002 with BT Group, eventually becoming CEO of Defence Business Services and CIO of the Ministry of Defence in 2014. His influence in the IT sector was recognized in 2015 when he ranked 12th in the UKtech50.
