He gained fame primarily for his work in television, notably in the series 'Goenkale' on ETB. Garmendia also participated in over 25 films and was notable in theater. He was regarded as one of the most recognized actors in the Basque language. The newspaper Berria called him 'the dean of professional actors in the Basque Country' upon his passing on August 6, 2005, due to cancer.
