He has been writing a culinary blog for El País since 2010, which later evolved into a popular project. He studied Hispanic philology and pursued a master's in journalism, before diving into gastronomy. López Iturriaga has contributed to major publications, hosted a TV program, and launched a YouTube channel focused on culinary topics. He is openly gay and is the brother of former basketball player Juan Manuel López Iturriaga.
