Mikhail Vladimirovich Donskoy (1948-2009) was a prominent Soviet and Russian computer scientist known for his significant contributions to computer chess and software development. Graduating from Moscow State University in 1970, he worked at the Institute of Control Sciences and led the development of Kaissa, the first World Computer Chess Championship winner in 1974. In the 1980s, he transitioned to database development and founded DISCo in 1994, creating the Symbian interface for ABBYY Lingvo dictionaries. Donskoy passed away on January 13, 2009.
