Mikhail Vladimirovich Ivanov (December 6, 1930 – July 3, 2018) was a prominent Soviet and Russian microbiologist, known for his role as the editor-in-chief of the journal 'Microbiology'. He became a full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1987 and continued in the Russian Academy of Sciences after 1991. Ivanov served as the director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1984 to 2003 and recently acted as the head of the department of 'Microbial Biogeochemistry and Biogeotechnology'. His research focused on general microbiology and geomicrobiology.
