Mikhail Yurievich Myagkov, born on October 26, 1968, in Moscow, is a Russian historian specializing in the history of the Great Patriotic War. He holds a Doctor of Historical Sciences degree and serves as a professor. Myagkov is the head of the Center for Military History and Geopolitics at the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a professor at MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations), as well as the scientific director of the Russian Military Historical Society. He was also an advisor to the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation from 2012 to 2020.
