Mikhail Dmitrievich Sharygin (November 8, 1938 – April 15, 2020) was a Soviet and Russian geographer, notable for his contributions to economic geography. He served as a distinguished professor at Perm State University and was the head of the Department of Social and Economic Geography from 1971 to 2016. Sharygin was recognized as a distinguished scientist of the Russian Federation and held a Doctorate in Geographic Sciences.
