Mikkel Thorup is a Danish professor of computer science at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen. Born in 1965, he earned his degree from DTU in 1990 and completed his Ph.D. at Oxford University in 1993. He worked at the University of Copenhagen from 1993 to 1998 before joining AT&T Labs in the USA. His research focuses on algorithms and data structures, and he has published notable work on planar graphs. Thorup has received several accolades for his contributions to the field, including fellowships and awards from various scientific organizations.
