Mikko Tuomi is a Finnish astronomer affiliated with the University of Hertfordshire, recognized for his contributions to the discovery of several exoplanets, including Proxima Centauri b, which orbits the closest star to the Sun. He was the first to find indicators of Proxima Centauri b in archival observational data. Tuomi has also contributed to the study of the planetary system around Tau Ceti and has led the development of new data analysis techniques to distinguish between natural stellar activity and signals caused by orbiting planets.
