After his parents divorced, he moved to the Czech Republic at age five. He was educated in violin performance, studying under Květoslava Gasilová and later Ivan Strauss. Al-Ashhab has won several awards at national and international competitions, with notable success at the 2018 Fritz Kreisler competition in Vienna. He has performed as a soloist in the USA and Germany and is recognized in the Czech Republic as a chamber musician.
