Milan Basta was a Yugoslav general and a member of the Partisan Movement during World War II. Born in Kurjak, Croatia, in 1921, he joined the Communist Party and actively participated in the uprising against German forces. Notably, Basta served as a political commissar in various military units and played a significant role in capturing the retreating Croatian Armed Forces in 1945. He later graduated from the Higher Military Academy, published works on the war, and received several awards. He was close friends with Jovanka Broz, Tito's wife, and passed away in Belgrade in 2007.
