Milenko Šušić was a Serbian chemist born on April 5, 1925, in Guča and passed away on October 10, 2006, in Belgrade. He completed his doctorate under Pavle Savić, a pioneer in nuclear sciences in Serbia, becoming the youngest PhD holder at the Institute. He specialized in the chemistry of highly radioactive materials and was involved with irradiated nuclear fuel. He advanced his studies in the USA and was elected as an assistant professor in 1956. He became a full member of SANU in 1985 and published 190 works.
