Aarnio studied at Taideteollinen keskuskoulu from 1946 to 1949 and at Turun Taideyhdistyksen piirustuskoulu from 1961 to 1963. Her works were first publicly displayed in Turku in 1958, and she is recognized for her clay sculptures, with interest in artistic creation beginning in her childhood.
