He serves as a professor of surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Niš, and is the director of the Orthopedic-Traumatology Clinic at the Clinical Center Niš. Mitković is a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the president of the Serbian Traumatology Association. Additionally, he holds the title of visiting professor in Switzerland.
