He served as the long-time director of the National Library of Serbia, contributing to the establishment of its current building, the Archeographic Department, and a Conservation Laboratory. He held the position of Minister of Culture and published several poetry collections, anthologies, and essays focused on the history of art and culture, making significant contributions to the NOB poetry.
