He serves as the Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Indiana University and directs the Novotny Glycoscience Laboratory and the Institute for Pheromone Research. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. at the University of Brno. His notable achievements include the development of PAGE Polyacrylamide Gel-filled Capillaries for Capillary Electrophoresis and significant research in proteomics, glycoanalysis, and mammalian pheromones.
