He is renowned for his works in children's literature, especially the multi-volume work 'Velká encyklopedie her.' He played a pivotal role in reviving Czech scouting publications and the education of scouts after 1989. Zapletal has also translated several works, including over ten titles by E.T. Seton. He is considered a successor to Jaroslav Foglar and has significantly impacted scouting in the Czech Republic.
