He played a critical role from the end of World War II through the early Apollo Program, leading development of key rockets such as Viking and Vanguard. His contributions were vital in shaping NASA's direction and the Saturn rockets, which were instrumental in the success of the American Moon landing efforts. Rosen passed away in 2014 after battling prostate cancer.
