Mincho Praznikov is a Bulgarian meteorologist born on February 9, 1938, in Dryanovo. He was named after his grandfather, a veteran wounded twice at the Battle of Shipka. Praznikov pursued a career in meteorology from an early age, graduating from Sofia University with a degree in Physics and Meteorology. He worked 22 years in the Air Force and later at the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. Since December 2000, he has been involved with the private meteorological forecasting company TV-MET. He ran for parliament in 2001 but did not secure enough votes.
