Minoo Shams is an Iranian-Swedish teacher and children's author, born on May 18, 1963, in Ahvaz, Iran. She moved to Sweden in 1986 with her infant son and studied to become a preschool teacher focusing on bilingual children. Shams teaches preschool and mother tongue in Stockholm. She debuted as an author in 2020 with 'Maryam and mormorsmålet', which explores the feelings of adapting to a new country with a language barrier. Her series includes two more books, all illustrated by Katarina Strömgård, with the latest being nominated for a literary award in 2023.
