Mipham Chokyi Lodro, the 14th Shamar Rinpoche, was a prominent Lama in the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, born in Derge, eastern Tibet, in 1952. Recognized as a reincarnation by the 16th Karmapa, he became a key figure in Tibetan Buddhism, overseeing important projects such as the printing of the Tibetan Buddhist Canon and managing the Rumtek Monastery. He was also an influential teacher and traveled to the West to support Buddhist centers. Mipham Chokyi Lodro passed away suddenly in Germany on June 11, 2014.
