Mirali Qashqai (1907-1977) was a prominent Azerbaijani geologist known for his substantial contributions to geology and geochemistry. He was one of the founders of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in 1945, where he served as its first academic secretary. He held the position of head of the geology department at the academy from 1938 and initiated the establishment of several educational programs and a geology museum. Qashqai was a member of various prestigious geological societies and was honored with the title of 'scientific and technical merit' in 1959.
