Miranda Cicognani is a retired Italian gymnast born on September 12, 1936. She made history at the 1952 Summer Olympics by becoming the first Italian woman to carry the Olympic flag for Italy during the opening ceremony. Cicognani competed in the 1952, 1956, and 1960 Olympic Games, achieving her best performance with a sixth-place finish in the team all-around event in 1952. Notably, her younger sister Rosella also participated in the Olympic Games, competing alongside her in 1956 and 1960.
