Mirko Ploj is a Slovenian policeman, lawyer, and writer born on October 2, 1956, in Maribor. He was an organizer of the Maneuver Structure of National Protection and served as an inspector for military and special police units during the Slovenian War of Independence. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana in 1992 and became the assistant director of the Police Directorate of Maribor in October 2001. Ploj retired in 2009 and is currently the president of the retired police officers' club Maksa Perca in Maribor.
