Miroslav Houštecký was a Czechoslovak diplomat, journalist, and writer born on June 10, 1926, in Horky nad Jizerou. Originally a member of the Communist Party, he worked as an educator and official before becoming a correspondent for ČTK and eventually holding high diplomatic positions. He served as Czechoslovak ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1983 to 1986 and to the United States from 1986 until 1990. After the Velvet Revolution, he was dismissed and entered retirement.
