Misbahul Islam Faruqi was a Pakistani writer, editor, translator, journalist, thinker, and military officer born on October 18, 1923, in Meerut. He earned a BA from Aligarh Muslim University in 1943 and served in the British Indian Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Subedar. Faruqi was multilingual, fluent in both Urdu and English. He passed away on November 14, 1976, in Lahore, where he was also laid to rest.
