He serves as a member of the House of Representatives in Japan's national legislature and holds the position of Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs. Born on December 21, 1950, in Kurobe, Toyama, he dropped out of Kyoto University. Miyakoshi began his political career with his election to the Toyama Prefectural Assembly in 1983, followed by his first election to the House of Representatives in 1998. He enjoys Awamori, an Okinawan alcoholic beverage.
