Throughout her life, she became a pivotal figure in the revival of women's swordplay theatre in Japan, especially during the 1950s and 60s. She wrote several autobiographies, founded her own theatre group, and became a popular television presence. Asaka's influence extended to teaching swordplay and appearing in films and dramas until her passing on December 13, 2020, from pancreatic cancer.
