He is a member of the royal family of Wankaner, Saurashtra, and has held various significant roles including Chairman of the Wildlife Trust of India, Director General of CAPART, and contributor to global conservation efforts through UNEP. Renowned for drafting the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, he has authored notable books on Indian wildlife and played a pivotal role in cheetah reintroduction policy in India.
