Romualdo Rosário da Costa, known as Mestre Môa do Katendê, was a Brazilian composer, percussionist, artisan, educator, and capoeira master. Born on October 29, 1954, in Salvador, he became one of the greatest masters of capoeira Angola in Bahia. He began practicing capoeira at age eight and was actively involved in promoting afoxé music. Môa do Katendê was tragically killed in a politically motivated attack in 2018, leading to tributes from numerous artists and cultural groups.
