Mohamad Farik Amin, born on February 16, 1975, is a Malaysian citizen and a prominent leader in the Jemaah Islamiyah group in Southeast Asia, which was previously affiliated with Al-Qaeda. Currently, he is detained by the United States at the Guantanamo Bay facility in Cuba. He was one of 14 detainees held for a year in CIA black sites. Farik is described as the right-hand man of Riduan Isamuddin, known as Hambali, the leader of Jemaah Islamiyah. He, along with several others, was arrested in Thailand on August 11, 2003.
