Mohamed Naguib (February 19, 1901 – August 28, 1984) was an Egyptian military and political leader who served as the first President of Egypt after the monarchy was abolished. A key figure in the 1952 revolution that removed King Farouk, he briefly held the position of Prime Minister in 1954. Naguib was known for his efforts to establish a civilian government and for his six principles of revolution which included agrarian reform. Following internal conflicts, he was ousted from power and placed under house arrest until 1971. His legacy remained suppressed until posthumous recognition.
